The Lawton family would like to express their appreciation for Jean and the entire Thomson family’s support for their work on Kiriwina over the years. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jean’s family and all who loved her—she will be deeply missed.
Remembering the late great Rev Dr Ralph Lawton👏👏
Yesterday, we remembered the great Rev Dr. Ralph Lawton on the third anniversary of his passing. His contributions to the world and the Kiriwinan people will never be forgotten. It’s also been a year since the Kiriwinan’s organised a beautiful celebration of his life. Check out this short video of the event at LAWTON DAY 2023 – THE MOVIE – Caring For Kiriwina Ltd. Let’s honour his legacy by continuing to spread love and kindness in our communities.

Pictured above, our beloved Health Care Worker Jansen Toposona (header image), and our dear family and CFK friends, Nelson Toposona (Jansen’s brother) and David Antonio, have passed away in the past five years. They are deeply missed and forever loved.
Our trip was a huge success! VALE: Our dear friend, Health Volunteer, Jansen Toposona.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jansen Toposona, on Friday 13th, 10pm. Jansen was a former Health Extension Officer and retired public servant who worked with the Health Department. He operated the only dispensary clinic in the largest village on Kiriwina, Kavataria, that helped hundreds of people over the years with his experience and expertise. Jansen was an expert in acupuncture, and CFK had provided him with hundreds of acupuncture needles that he used to assist many people in recovering from pain and illness. His passing is a significant loss and he will be greatly missed.
VALE: John Kasaipwalova
We are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of John Kasaipwalova at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Wednesday morning. We extend our deepest sympathy to John’s wife, children, extended family, and friends during this challenging time.
Our beautiful bronze plaque has arrived in time for the Celebration of Ralph and Margaret Lawton Kiriwina trip :). 👏
Vale: Late Bunu Mwatapa, Commander, Maritime and Surveillance, Navy, PNG Defence Force.
We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Bunu in the early hours of Saturday morning. CFK wishes to send its deepest condolences to his wife Iru and their children. We have very fond memories of spending time with the family in Canberra when they visited Tomwaya, as well as meeting up with the family when we visited Kiriwina during our VBA training sessions over the years.
PNGDF has lost one of its fine officers and Trobriand Islanders have lost a leader and Kavataria Village has lost one of its brilliant and well respected sons.
