Pictured above, our beloved Health Care Worker Jansen Toposona (header image), and our dear family and CFK friends, Nelson Toposona (Jansen’s brother) and David Antonio, have passed away in the past five years. They are deeply missed and forever loved.

Our trip was a huge success! The photos below showcase our outstanding primary healthcare educators, Midwives Shea Caplice and Jacqui Andrews, alongside our VBA leaders Ruth and Dulcie, and our new CFK staff member, Midwife Bokawau, with LHC Sister Linesse and our in-country manager, Toks Bwaina and our wonderful CFK VBAs. 👏

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jansen Toposona, on Friday 13th, 10pm. Jansen was a former Health Extension Officer and retired public servant who worked with the Health Department. He operated the only dispensary clinic in the largest village on Kiriwina, Kavataria, that helped hundreds of people over the years with his experience and expertise. Jansen was an expert in acupuncture, and CFK had provided him with hundreds of acupuncture needles that he used to assist many people in recovering from pain and illness. His passing is a significant loss and he will be greatly missed.

Jansen filmed here reflecting on the success of the 2019 CFK VBA leaders training sessions.

We are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of John Kasaipwalova at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Wednesday morning. We extend our deepest sympathy to John’s wife, children, extended family, and friends during this challenging time.

We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Bunu in the early hours of Saturday morning. CFK wishes to send its deepest condolences to his wife Iru and their children. We have very fond memories of spending time with the family in Canberra when they visited Tomwaya, as well as meeting up with the family when we visited Kiriwina during our VBA training sessions over the years.

PNGDF has lost one of its fine officers and Trobriand Islanders have lost a leader and Kavataria Village has lost one of its brilliant and well respected sons.
