The Digicel network has been down again on Kiriwina for the past few weeks. Once available we were notified that the female and male water pumps both needed parts and repairs. Parts purchased and repairs will soon be made by our wonderful plumber Mr Koega :).

Thank you again to all our sponsors and donors. Without you none of this could happen.

Our CFK VBA delivered baby of the week, I think he is trying to say ‘Really? You are trying to wake me up for this?’:) What do you think this caption should be? Any ideas?

Thank you to all our sponsors and donors for helping keep our Kiriwinan mothers and babies safe.

We are so grateful to mid wife extraordinaire Shea Caplice for hosting this wonderful fundraiser and the bands that volunteered and preformed to raise funds for Caring for Kiriwina: The last born: Midwife Sheryl, Sally and Jason – kicked us off and Lionel Robinson and the in crowd took us out. Just brilliant!

Latest News from the Island is that the airport is closed as a direct consequence of the recent Election violence. Report from Toks:

“At the moment the flights to Kiriwina are suspended. The terminal building was partly damaged and the airport run way was closed with logs and tree branches. Negotiations are underway to open the airport and resume flights. ”

We love good news! And today we received a wonderful progress report from one of our partner organisations, Caring for Kiriwina, which took a group of volunteer Australian midwives to PNG last month to update the skills of Village Birth Attendants. Expecting around 80 attendees, our incredible midwives catered for more than 170 – some coming from extremely remote areas to attend the week-long course. Armed with new skills and knowledge, these Village Birth Attendents will be able to better assist vulnerable birthing mothers. They are on the front line of lowering PNG’S maternal mortality rate. And we could not be prouder! #sendhopenotflowers #maternalhealth #caringforkiriwina #safebirth #villagebirthattendent #training #mothersday #donate #helpussavelives

A sincere thank you to my gorgeous mother Diana (pictured) and sister Kylie Adams for their tireless efforts in packaging the birthing kits. Perfection always.

Another 50 Birthing Kits have gone back to Port Moresby with our In-Country manager Toks. Wonderful to recently meet up with Toks in Australia and talk CFK business.

Great work team!!!
