Finally! after 62 years in the making, BUKI BIGA KIRIWINA, A dictionary of the Kiriwina Language of Papua New Guinea, has been published.

With a glorious printed hardcover and gold embossed text, this 1000-page dictionary is a triumph of multiple wills and determination.

This dictionary has been the direct result of the help and encouragement of Rev Dr Ralph’s Papuan and Australian friends. Ralph acknowledged the support of many contributors in the dictionary, and this hardcover version has been produced just in time for us all to celebrate Ralph and Margaret’s contributions to Kiriwina, the place they called home. Thank you to all our sponsors and donors.

Only 2 more nights of sleep until we leave for our beloved Kiriwina to see our wonderful friends after 3.5 years of COVID absence. Getting excited 🙂

CFK will collect the knitwear from these lovely Belrose Country Club ladies. ready to take to Kiriwina in 5 sleeps. The lady on the far right is Norma who does most of the knitwear and she turns 101 in July this year! What an amazing effort.

Our SwizKnitters, from St Swithuns Church at Pymble are also very enthusiastic knitters for Kiriwina and Michelle Vale has again sewn some beautiful baby clothes and dresses for the new Mums.

Thank you, you wonderful women!!!

With no flights to Kiriwina available the only way for the Kiriwinan’s to receive essential life saving humanitarian items is by boat. The Bishop has graciously supplied a boat for our trip leaving April 17th. Only 13 sleeps away :0. Fingers and toes crossed that Australia Post delivers in time :).

Thank you to all our sponsors and donors 🙌.

“As women thrive, so will we all,” United Nations Secretary

-General Ban Ki-moon

“The world will never realise 100 per cent of its goals if 50 per cent of its people cannot realise their full potential,” General Ban Ki-moon told the UN Commission.  While women bore the burden of conflict, war, discrimination and domestic violence, they were not just victims, but agents of progress.  Empowered women and girls were the best drivers of growth, the best hope for reconciliation and the best buffer against radicalisation of youth and the repetition of the cycle of violence, he stressed.

Today is a day for celebrating women. Supporting women and what they can achieve is more important than ever. Please support our Caring for Kiriwina Village Birth Attendants Program to create Strong women = Strong babies.

“Here’s to strong women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.”

We are extremely honoured to be invited by the Bishop to an event celebrating Ralph and Margaret Lawton’s work with the Kiriwinan people scheduled for the last two weeks of April.

And after three long years, we will also take this opportunity to meet up with our wonderful CFK in-country and Island volunteers, our fabulous VBAs and the Losuia Health Centre to check on the progress of all our projects on the Island and to deliver much-needed support. Please be sure to look out for further updates.

Thank you to all our donors and sponsors for allowing this life-saving work to continue🙌.

Thank you so much to all our sponsors and donors who made this food security donation possible; this donation has helped avert a humanitarian crisis on Kiriwina that the recent conflict has generated.

Photos of basic food staples such as rice, sugar, tinned food, noodles, teabags, flour, and cooking oil distributed to Kavataria, Mulosaida and Oyabia/Rabesi communities.

Further distributions of rice and sugar have been delivered to Losuia, Kwemtula and Osesuya communities.

A thousand thanks to all who contributed !!! 👏👏👏👏😍
