GETTING THE VBA TRAINING TEAM BACK TOGETHER AGAIN – 2022 :)

Sadly, another year has gone by without being able to travel to Kiriwina and train the Village Birth Attendants. However, we have managed to continue to supply as much essential equipment as we can to support their work. Below a testament to how these training programs have benefitted the Kiriwinan people. Our Christmas wish is that COVID circumstances improve worldwide and that we will all be able to travel safety to Kiriwina in 2022 and continue the good work with the support of our wonderful Kiriwinan’s and our sponsors and donors.

Merry Christmas from the VBA training team – CFK VBA co-director Vanessa Palfreeman, Midwife educators Shea Caplice and Jacqui Andrews and CFK co-Director Jodi Lawton xx.

PLEASE GET VACCINATED.

The training of Kiriwina Village Birth Attendants (KVBA) for three consecutive years from 2017, 2018 and 2019 by qualified nurses and mid-wives from Australia, has now bear fruits to the KVBA. Approximately, 80% of the birth deliveries were conducted in villages and were attended by the KVBA’s. Only 20% of the deliveries were conducted at Losuia Health Centre. The training the KVBA’s have attained or acquired from the Australian mid-wives and nurses has greatly improved and enhance their skills in attending to deliveries. About 95% of the deliveries were successful and babies are now the testimonies of the work of these village birth attendants.

CFK supports the KVBA with birthing kits, torches, lanterns, birth record books, soap, umbrella’s buckets, and other necessities to assist them in their delivery routines.

Thank you
