Schooling is no longer FREE in PNG. CFK administers the CFK School Fee Scholarship program which pays for the mandatory High school fees for the most vulnerable students. Thank you to all our Sponsors so far. Below are recently taken videos of our Scholarship recipients thanking our sponsors.

CFK School Scholarship recipients thanks Sponsors

As a matter of fact, your financial support has made a great difference in the study lives of these kids, and I believe your assistance has positive impact in their lives so as their families NOT only for now BUT this assistance really paves a determined way for them as they strive through their education in the HOPE of securing a BETTER LIFE in the FUTURE.

You have positively boosted their moral to continue to strive with HOPE knowing that there are some kind-hearted, God-loving individuals who can really raise their hands to lift them from a scenario of ‘rags up to riches’. You have shined your light into their darkness filled with Hopelessness, now their darkness turned into light and hopelessness into HOPE! Praise and Glory to God!

The pregnancy rates have exploded on Kiriwina during COVID, donations have been declining and the Kiriwinan people are in urgent need of more birthing kits, delivery equipment and contraception aids.

Our CFK In-Country Manager, Toks Bwaina describes the present conditions (video below)

Toks also sends out a big thank you to our wonderful donors!!!

Today we are honoring our enduring partnership with the Kiriwinan people, sustained throughout the generations, for the past 61 years. Thank you to all the significant friendships that have endured over the decades between the two countries that have allowed this partnership to continue.

We remember those incredible pioneers we have lost and those we have found. We will be forever indebted and grateful for all your contributions!!!

Greetings for a Prosperous and Blessed New Year 2022 from the Caring for Kiriwina (CFK) Management team to all our generous Donors all over the world.

The 2021 year was a year of challenges with the emergence and rise of COVID-19 which affected many lives and the movement of people as well as the loss of lives of our loved ones globally.

The operations of Caring for Kiriwina was greatly affected especially by the limited donations we received from our donors during the year. Despite the effects of COVID-19, CFK managed to continue its support of the people of Kiriwina during 2021. The support provided by CFK to the people of Kiriwina has greatly benefited and changed the lifestyle and livelihood of the people.

Sadly, another year has gone by without being able to travel to Kiriwina and train the Village Birth Attendants. However, we have managed to continue to supply as much essential equipment as we can to support their work. Below a testament to how these training programs have benefitted the Kiriwinan people. Our Christmas wish is that COVID circumstances improve worldwide and that we will all be able to travel safety to Kiriwina in 2022 and continue the good work with the support of our wonderful Kiriwinan’s and our sponsors and donors.

Merry Christmas from the VBA training team – CFK VBA co-director Vanessa Palfreeman, Midwife educators Shea Caplice and Jacqui Andrews and CFK co-Director Jodi Lawton xx.

PLEASE GET VACCINATED.

The training of Kiriwina Village Birth Attendants (KVBA) for three consecutive years from 2017, 2018 and 2019 by qualified nurses and mid-wives from Australia, has now bear fruits to the KVBA. Approximately, 80% of the birth deliveries were conducted in villages and were attended by the KVBA’s. Only 20% of the deliveries were conducted at Losuia Health Centre. The training the KVBA’s have attained or acquired from the Australian mid-wives and nurses has greatly improved and enhance their skills in attending to deliveries. About 95% of the deliveries were successful and babies are now the testimonies of the work of these village birth attendants.

CFK supports the KVBA with birthing kits, torches, lanterns, birth record books, soap, umbrella’s buckets, and other necessities to assist them in their delivery routines.

Thank you

The water is running now for the students and teachers and the surrounding community. Unfortunately this is a short term fix. These photos are taken of the newly repaired pump while it is still working. This pump needs parts for maintenance which will take time and cost money, otherwise it will break down in a short period of time :(.
